It’s NaBloPoMo, National Blog Posting Month. For the month of November, I’m going to post every day. This is day 9.
A short post for you today. After all, Sunday is a day of rest and reflection. Walter and I went on a run this morning. We’re trying out a new leash where his lead is attached to a band around my waist. So far so good and it was much easier to run. We encountered maybe 20 or so other dogs on our run. He did really well staying by me and not lunging too much at the other dogs.
I love watching him run, especially when we’re somewhere I can take him off leash. He sees so much joy in life and running is just another expression of his joy. It’s really a lunge in one direction or the next, as something grabs his interest.
Humans run in a very different way, measured, paced and purposeful. When I watch him running I’ll try to take his lead and add more joy, freedom, and a carefree nature to my running, my mindset, and my form. It makes the breath flow more readily and the steps have less drudgery, as they can sometimes have when you’re out of rhythm or a regular routine.
